Volunteers helping at our Info Booth
Our volunteers are the fuel that keeps our market running. If you have an interest in food, sustainability, community development, or farmers markets and would like to get involved, we’d love to have your help! We value our volunteers and have many ways that you can get involved and give back to the Market. Wherever your skills, talents and interests lie, the Montavilla Farmers Market would love to have you join our family.
More details will be posted in May for volunteering at the Market this season. Once we’re up and running, you’ll take a look at our calendar to see the different volunteer roles happening each Sunday, and email your preferred shifts to our volunteer coordinator.
Sample positions
Chef Demo / Culinary Education Volunteer
Working with Market staff and board, provide support for the MFM’s Chef Demo program, such as arrange chefs to participate in the program, ensure they have necessary pantry and food items, help gather an audience for the demos, and, if possible, interview and write profiles of chefs for the Market’s website and social networking tools.
Communications Volunteer
Working with the Market’s marketing and outreach committee, this volunteer will assist in the promotion of the Montavilla Farmers Market and its educational programs that support the Market’s mission. Assist with assorted administrative tasks.
Durable Dish / Sustainability Volunteer
With guidance from the Market’s Waste Reduction Coordinator, volunteers will monitor the recycling, landfill, and compost stations. Assist customers and vendors with the Market’s Durable Dish program, which diverts plastic plates and cups out of the waste stream.
Information Booth Volunteer
Help to set up, manage, and take down the Information Booth at the Montavilla Farmers Market. Answer questions, provide various services, and promote our events.
Photography Volunteer
Take photographs in support of weekly Market dates, events, displays, website, and marketing / media efforts.
Set Up/Tear Down Site Volunteer
Help to set up tents, tables, chairs, and our recycling/waste station in the morning. Or come to the Market at the end of the day to tear it all down for storage until next week. This job is physical. We can’t wait to workout with you!
Special Events Volunteer
With guidance from the Market board and staff, assist in the preparation, promotion, and execution of Special Events and Fundraising Events in support of the Montavilla Farmers Market and its mission.
