Everybody Eats

The Montavilla Farmers Market believes that everyone, regardless of income, should have the opportunity to eat healthy, high-quality food that nourishes both the body and our community. In 2012, over 156,000 individuals in Multnomah County received support from the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), more than any other county in the state of Oregon. Since 2009, the Market has maintained a program called “Everybody Eats” that helps families experiencing food insecurity have access to the best quality, locally grown food.

For every SNAP dollar a person spends up to $10, the Everybody Eats program gives them an additional dollar to use for fresh, healthy food at our market. This increases these shoppers’ purchasing power by up to $10 each time they come to the market. See your friends and neighbors share what the Everybody Eats program means to them in this awesome video!

The Everybody Eats program has provided over $50,000 in matching funds to our SNAP shoppers since 2009, but the Federal grant that funded this program is going away in 2018. We need your help to keep this program alive, and help the market remain accessible for everyone in Montavilla!

Anyone can donate to Everybody Eats at the Market’s Information Booth using their debit card, cash, or check. You may also mail a check made out to the “Montavilla Farmers Market” with “Everybody Eats” in the memo line, or donate online through PayPal. Help us ensure that everybody eats at our farmers market this season!
