Everybody Eats

The Montavilla Farmers Market believes that everyone, regardless of income, should have the opportunity to eat healthy, high-quality food that nourishes both the body and our community. In 2009, over 122,000 individuals in Multnomah County  received support from the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, more than any other county in the state of Oregon. Since 2010, the Market has maintained a program called “Everybody Eats” that helps families experiencing food insecurity have access to the best quality, locally grown food.

Everybody Eats allows the market to supplement the shopping budget for individuals in our community that are experiencing food insecurity. Tokens are distributed directly to families & individuals that might otherwise feel unable to shop at the farmers market. A generous Pacific Village grant from New Seasons Market also supports this program, matching the first $10 of each EBT customer’s purchase at the market.

Customers using their debit cards at the market to get tokens for their regular weekly shopping can easily add a donation to their purchase that will be passed along directly to those in need. You may also mail a check made out to the ‘Montavilla Farmers Market” with “Everybody Eats” in the memo line, or donate online through PayPal. Help us ensure that everybody eats at our farmers market this season!
